There were two groups in theclassroom. The teacher asked them how will they describe a rainbow to a blind person.

Naturalist:

It cannot be described (since they cannot determine the colors of the rainbow).

Romantic:

You want to touch it though you really cannot; and when you think that you can almost touch it, it suddenly disappears.

i consider myself literate in English. In fact when I was in grade school, i receive comments from teachers that I am good in English. I have written letters, articles, journals in English. And in high school, my classmates thought that I am fluent in every language that I use (maybe, they just wanted to tell me that I was better than them, not really that good. haha).

Be that as it may, I came to think that I wanted to learn other languages aside from English and my own language, and so I enrolled on a Nihongo course. It was a challenging language because Japanese have a different mode of writing. Since I was eager to equip my mind with a new knowledge of other languages, I was able to master the hiragana and katakana characters. But when I reached to the part where learning the kanji, I choked some air. The sensei said there are thousands of them. Ha! Now I only remember 5 of these characters.

Yesterday, I stumbled on a page written in Japanese; and that was when I was reminded how illiterate I am to other languages than Filipino and English.

On Movies and Talented Inds… September 6, 2008

Watching movies is one of my hobbies. I like to play three movies simultaneously and can actually forget about meals. When I find a movie interesting, I would check out who the director is and give the credit to him/her; but I don’t usually look for the name of the scriptwriter.

For every movies, the scriptwriter is also responsible for making it enjoyable and wonderful through good plot, crisp dialogues and the like. It’s not solely the director. I perceive scriptwriters to be creator of the soul of a movie; and the director to be the one who gives it life through movement.

It is not since college that I appreciate more of the writer than the director. And apparently, it is also not until college that I saw the movie Mean Girls. (I am not a fond of girl stuff. It’s just that I love movies….*wink*…. )

Lately, I have read an article about talented individuals. That’s when I came about Tina Fey. Witty, talented, and rich. She was the  writer of Saturday Night Live, the script writer of Mean Girls where she also co-starred in, and many others. And she was announced as the “Sexiest Woman in the World” in the Annual Top 100 List  of a bisexual Web.

They say a girl should act like a lady when she turns 18.

I’m an exception..  I sit on the chair in squat position, I walk lazily on the corridors, I act like a child sometimes, and also, I still feel a bit boyish even though I try to act feminine.

How much more would it take if I turn 19. It’s already fast approaching. I don’t usually cross out days on the (more…)

I like to run.

Whenever I am late or when I’m the only person in the path walk, I run. It keeps me going.

I want to feel the beat of my heart against my chest, to pant when I feel the chaos in my lungs as they grasp for air, to heave my legs heavily with every lift and every stomp. And every lap I finished, an almost gained victory burst inside my ribcage like a bomb detonated.

I love the emotions escaping my mind. My piece of peace.

I love to run.

I love to forget why I run.

I want to forget that once we ran away to escape what we had left behind.

Now you run away, leaving everything on my shoulders.

I want to run too. To escape.

I love to run. I feel that it will keep me going. Running. Running.
